c/o The Community Library of Allegheny Valley
315 East 6th Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084

The Tarentum Genealogical Society welcomes as members all those who are researching in the Alle-Kiski and surrounding area of Pennsylvania. Monthly meetings (except December) are held the third Monday of every month at 8 p.m. at the Community Library of Allegheny Valley, 315 E. 6th Ave., Tarentum, PA. Dues are $10 per year (May-May). This entitles the member to use of the Society's equipment (i.e. microfilm, microfiche) and a quarterly newsletter.

Queries may be submitted at any time for answer and/or publication.

Aims and Policies of the Tarentum Genealogical Society

We shall always seek records to copy or consider for use of the society members. Two copies of the records will be made. One copy will be placed in the library "as is"; the other will remain in the Project Committee's hands until it has an every name index.

Research Policy

The Tarentum Genealogical Society does not perform research. However, and individual member may choose to perform research for pay. They are active members of the Society but in their research efforts they act as individuals and do not represent the Society in any way. The Society will not be responsible for the quality or quantity of their work.

The Board of Directors shall review all complains concerning the researchers but are not obligated to arbitrate any dispute between researcher and those who hire him.

Correspondence

Every effort will be made to answer each letter received, as we are primarily a local group concentrating our research and efforts to four counties surrounding Tarentum (Armstrong, Allegheny, Butler and Westmoreland), but we do have some restrictions. Suggestions may be given as to other sources where information may be obtained, and/or queries will be placed in the newsletter along with the correspondent's name and address.

The Society shall maintain a file of all queries/research request including the actual letter of inquiry and data received, date answered, and a copy of the answer, with the researcher's/respondent's name.
A list of Families extracted from the 5 Generation Linage Charts submitted by each member will be issued to each member; updates will be placed in the newsletter as charts are added. The first issue will be free, and each additional or future issue will be provided at a nominal printing fee. Each member is asked to provide a 5 Generation Linage Chart or larger (of their choosing) for inclusion in our Family Research List.
