Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys around ages 11 - 17. Through the Boy Scout program, young men can achieve the core objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship. Organized in 1946, the Glenshaw Century Club has always been a vibrant and forward- moving woman's club. The object of the club is to provide for the advancement of education and improvement of young men and women by granting scholarships based on merit and need, promote the good and welfare of the aged, poor or distressed, and to raise funds for such purposes.

Two fundraisers are held each year. The first is our annual Gala, House Tour and Craft Show, traditionally on the first weekend in November. The Gala is held on the first Firday evening in November. Two or more homes that are decorated for Christmas are opened to be toured. The Craft show has a variety of craft vendors, gourment table, wreaths and arrangements, Chinese Auction, and food. Our gracious tea table offers tea and coffee poured by ladies of the club and a vast array of cookies. Members start planning for this event early in the summer.

The second fundraiser is our Luncheon and Fashion Show in April. Again, using the many talents of our members, the Chinese Auction features spectacular gift baskets laden with items donated by generous businesses all over the Pittsburgh area. Members model the latest fashions from local stores.

Our monthly newsletter, "The Chatter", keeps members in touch with each other and aware of all upcoming events.

At the end of our club year, all proceeds from our endeavors are distributed to various organizations. Last year, we awarded $22,000 to 10 scholarship recipients, and a variety of food pantries, Meals-On-Wheels, crisis centers and libraries.

Aside from fundraising, we also have bridge groups, a book club, arts & crafts group, an arts & entertainment group, and a singing group, which entertains each month at Kane Center in Ross.

Visit our website at http://www.glenshawcenturyclub.bravehost.com to hear more about our wonderful group.
