e-Books(Listening or Reading)

Another nice feature of our Library's participation in ACLA and the eiNetwork is the availbility of e-Books, Downloadable Books. Have you ever listened to a book on tape or CD? Same idea, but you don't have to come to the library to borrow the item!

Audio Books

e-BooksDownloadable audio books are free. And they are a great way to checkout (for 3 weeks! And it can be renewed.) and listen to audio books (borrow up to 10 at a time) when it suites you, without late fees.

First, an MP3 player is necessary. Get one with good capacity, at least 256 MB, but more is better. Make sure it has an On/Off feature, full time display, forward and reverse and a locking option. Some good ones: Creative Zen Nano Plus, Creative MuVo Slim, Archos Gmini XS1000, HP Pocket PC, Toshiba Gigabeat F10, iRiver H10. Also, get a comfortable pair of earphones or buds.

(Sorry MAC fans, iPods will not work with this technology.)

Next, go to the NetLibrary gateway (http://www.einetwork.net/netlibrary.cfm) and log in with your valid library card.

Then creat a free account link. This will be in the upper right hand corner of the NetLibrary site. You will need to create and submit a user name, password and e-mail address. (Remeber them for later use!!)

Once you have completed all of this you can access books on-line. You can do basic searches or advanced searches. You can also limit your searches to just audio books. (Electronic books are also avaialble to download - just in case you want to stare at a monitor a little more each day.)

There are 2 download options: Radio Quality or CD quality. CD quality is necessary for playback on an MP3 player. You will also need high-speed internet access to do this.

Renewing books is simple. Login to your Netlibrary Account. (Remeber that user name and password from above?) Click on the My Checked Out Items. Click on Renew this Audiobook.

Take a good book for a walk, to workout, to fly, on a road trip, to quilt too...

Need help or Technical Support? Click on HELP on the top navigation bar in NetLibrary or call 1-800-848-5800 for 24-hour technical support.

Note: This feature CANNOT be done using the library computers at this time.
